The Viola Blythe Center is reaching out to the Community for help. In 2011, we served a record number of clients. This number will climb again this year. We are exhausting our donations quickly. The Viola Blythe Center relies on the generosity of residents, schools, service organizations, churches and businesses for volunteers, funds and supplies.
During the holiday season, our volunteers coordinate food pick-up and distribution, collect and wrap toys, help at the Children’s Christmas Party and participate in our Adopt-a-Family Program. Volunteers are the backbone of the Viola Blythe Community Service Center. There are many opportunities for volunteering, including serving on the Board of Directors, working at the Center processing requests, sorting food and clothing, stocking shelves, planning holiday activities and coordinating food collection.

Use a S.H.A.R.E.S. card when purchasing your groceries – and Viola Blythe organization will then receive the benefits of a quarterly check for up to 3% of the qualified purchases. It’s that easy! Give a call (510) 794-3437 or email to receive a Shares Card. In 2011, The Viola Blythe Center received a check from the SHARES Program in the amount of $205.00. Every purchase counts! The card is honored at Save Mart, Smart Foods, Food Maxx, and Lucky’s.

Viola Blythe will receive $250-$1000 for every roof or solar system purchased by Newark citizens. “Giving for Living is a practical way to drive funds to great community organizations like Viola Blythe,” says Jim Petersen, CEO and founder of Petersen Dean Roofing and Solar Systems, “We all can’t spend the time or money like the volunteers at Viola Blythe so by participating in our fundraising program, homeowners can help others as a byproduct of their purchase.
